19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces
A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The Russian, a former world number one, has had a challenging season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.
The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.
The player's counter-punching play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his skill to play at the highest level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
He recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the last five games to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a third set.
Moutet saved 4 initial opportunities in a close third set before the Russian won the break to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, he clinched the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
